Why Do You Need Waiver of Premium on Your Ohio Life Insurance Policy?

May 15, 2014

Much like life insurance itself, waiver of premium is one of those things you never want to think you will need.

Because of that, you might find yourself tempted to pass up a relatively affordable add on that could potentially save you thousands of dollars in the future.

First, you might not be sure what Waiver of Premium is?

Don’t worry, if you’ve never bought life insurance before, I might think you’re a little strange if you did know about it.

Basically WOP, in most cases, will pay your life insurance premium for you if you ever become disabled and can no longer work.

Wait, what?

Yep, you heard me right. You basically get free life insurance if you are disable for longer than 6 months and as long as the disability persists up to age 65.

So what’s the catch?

Well there really isn’t one.

You can add this “rider” to almost any life insurance policy for a fraction of the cost of the overall policy.

The Advice

Really today’s question should be, “why wouldn’t you want waiver or premium on your life insurance policy?”

Like I said earlier, you will screw this up if you don’t stop to think about the scenarios that could easily land you in this position.

If you are unable to work for a long period of time, that usually means fairly serious medical problems have come up making the need for life insurance that more pressing.

This is one of the worst times to start nickel and diming things on your life insurance policy.

If you find yourself in that unfortunate position, there will be so many things demanding your attention and stressing your limited finances, there’s NO reason your life insurance payment should be one of them.
